What is Crowdfunding?

What is crowdfinding? Crowdfunding is an alternative method of raising capital for a business, project or idea. Unlike angel investment, in which one person typically takes a larger stake in a small business, with crowdfunding an entrepreneur can attract a ‘crowd’ of people – each of whom takes a small stake in a business, by contributing towards an online funding target. Essentially, crowdfunding is the ability for a large group of people to band together and make small investments that collectively are enough to fund a startup company, project, or product.

How does crowdfunding work? Crowdfunding uses the incredible reach of the social media and the Internet to make it easy for entrepreneurs to connect with potential investors. Add to that the power of microfinance, and you have a capital raising technique with a huge potential. Crowdfunding sites are sometimes referred to as platforms because they provide a venue for all aspects of a campaign, such as creation of the public interface, campaign and project tracking, a payment mechanism and disbursement of funds.

The million dollar question. Know the answer  Then success and riches are yours. But there isn’t a perfect answer to that question. Starting a business is exciting, challenging, risky, and one of the hardest things you will ever do in your life. I have talked to hundreds of entrepreneurs over the years and there are certain qualities that all of them share.

Welcome to my personal blog. It is focused on “business development and entrepreneurial success.” My mission is to help you start a business, grow your business, and be a better communicator.

I have spent my career in business development and startups. A consultant, former commercial lending officer, marketing director, sales manager, and special projects coordinator, I always tried to bring a unique perspective to how companies communicate their message in a changing business landscape. I have been an entrepreneur many times over, in a variety of fields.

Here I will be writing on startups, entrepreneurs, increasing sales, crowdfunding, social media, and productivity. Most of my content is targeted at “Pro-Sumers”. Pro-Sumers are self-employed, management, and small to mid level employers that want to grow professionally. From time to time, I write about stuff that doesn’t fit into any of these categories.

My goal is to create useful, relevant content that you can use in your business as well as professional life. If you are self employed, own your own business, or are looking to start one, then this blog is for you.

What can I do to help your business?
